VIALS
Vials : vials are glass or plastic containers, which are closed with a rubber stopper and sealed with an aluminium crimp.They’re used to store medicines in liquid form, and they can even store powders or tablets.
Types :
Advantages of Vials:
- It can be designed to hold multiple doses (if it is formulated with a bacteriostatic agent) and the removal of the product is easier.
- The contamination of the product with the glass particles during the process of opening gets eliminated with the use of vials.
Disadvantages of Vials:
- Vials have certain drawbacks such as coring of rubber stopper, microbial contamination may occur due to multiple withdrawals.
- It is greater initial device cost.
Use:
- Vials are designated for single-dose or multi-dose use. ( multi-dose-preservative )
- They used to store medication in the form of liquids, powders, or capsules.
- They can also be used as scientific sample vessels; for instance, in autosampler devices in analytical chromatography.
